They named me Amy after a Bobby Darin love song that was popular around the time of my birth.
They put me in cute little pink dresses with matching girly shoes.
But everywhere they took me, people would say to them, "Oh, what a cute little baby boy you have!"
To which my Mom would
(Bless her heart.)
My Mom realized the reason every one thought that I was a boy was due to the fact that I was bald.
(Bless her heart.)
My Mom was so tired of hearing how cute her little boy was that she decided to take action.
You know the old saying, "Duct tape can fix anything"?
Well, my Mom didn't use duct tape to fix the problem. (Much to my relief, I'm sure.)
No, she used Scotch tape instead.
If you look closely, you will notice that the bow is resting on the tape, not my head.
(Bless my heart!)
Thankfully, for me and my Mom, just a couple of years later, my hair finally grew in.
(This is my Dad's favorite picture of me as a little girl.)
God made up for those first couple of years of my life that were spent in a constant state of baldness.
Sigh.
And Shannon, if you're reading this, I told you that I was a natural blond.
I'm just saying.
Now it's your turn, my bloggy buddies. Do you have any baby pictures with funny stories attached to them?
If so, I'm tagging you to do a post about them.
I would love to see your baby pictures and to hear your funny stories.
So, if you want to do this tag, just let me know, so that I can stop by your blog and take a peek.
Psalms 139:13
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.

I can't believe I'm the first one!!!! What a darling post! I used to get so mad at people thinking you were a boy!!! I had to resort to something! :)
That picture of you in the red dress is also my favorite picture! Your Granddaddy gave you that dress!
If it makes you feel any better, I was a bald baby too! :)
LOVE YOU!
Mom
Very cute baby pictures! Thanks for sharing. I have a few baby pictures that my mom gave to me, but I'll have to think about if I have any funny stories to go along with them. hmmmmm. I'll let you know if I end up posting on this.
Hope you have a great day.
Nicole
How adorable!
I love seeing childhood pictures.
Just look at all of your lovely hair now.
I'm not sure where this one picture of me is, but my husband always makes fun of me :( because I have this thin blond hair and my ears are sticking out and then I got some new glasses, that I was so proud of at the time, that are black....he says cat glasses. You'd get a kick out of that picture, but since I have no idea where it is at this moment, you'll just have to imagine.
Oh, I have several through the years. The cute one is the one hanging in my mom's hallway that you saw recently. ;)
Have a great week, Amy and thanks for always brightening my day.
Love,
Valerie
What cute photos of you! There is no denying that you are a natural blonde. :) I love the scotch tape, very clever.
God bless,
Gina
Scotch tape...that is too funny! Those are some adorable pictures.
That's funny about the tape - tee hee! You were darling and had beautiful blond hair!
Have a good day - Kellan
I like your mom. Creative woman!
Oh my WORD that bow resting on the tape is just hilarious! SO FUNNY!
I was bald for a loooong time as a baby too, and my mom used syrup to attack the bows to my head. I bet I had a sticky head with bees swarming around me at all times.
I will never look at scotch tape the same way again!! LOVE IT!! Well I must say I was on the other end of the spectrum WAY TOO MUCH HAIR! I had black hair when I was born and lots of it. My girls were the same way getting the hair gene from me AND hubby! Poor little things. I called them my "little gorillas" when they were babies!! LOL!!
Beautiful blond by the way!
Some ladies at church told me that a dab of light Karo syrup/corn syrup would do the trick to keeping the bows in the hair but my little Maggie's at the stage that she still needs her shoes off and the hairbows out!
Girl, you were a toe-head! And pretty darn cute too! I don't have access to my baby pictures right now, but i'll get back to you on that one when I get back home! BTW, I LOVE bald-headed babies! There is nothing cuter!
I was bald too and my mom did the same thing!
Very cute. I can understand how frustrating that would be for your mom.
I recall one day in elementary school that unbeknownst to me it was picture day. And what did I have on....a purple sleeveless shirt with pink writing "Michael Jackson". Granted in my younger days I was very anti-sleeveless or tank top. I did not like my arms showing (same with my ankles). I was horrified to have all the world know I was a secret closet fan of MJ.
Luvya,
My parents lost most of our kid pictures in a house fire. I don't have a lot to share. However, the thought came to me that if you ever come through Kansas City I really want hook up and visit over a cup of coffee or something!! you are too fun!
Blessings!

Kenny, you are so funny!
I started laughing as soon as I saw the first image.:)
How many years did I spend trying to achieve that hair? ;)
Sigh.
I can't beleive you an I suffered from the same condition! And it didn't stop with me either, I passed it on to Phillipa! Us poor folk who were baldies! Well, at least now we've made up for it.
I'll do your tag. I'll let you know when it's up.
Girl, you are so funny! Your baby pictures are adorable. I'll bet Melissa is glad you finally got some nice, long, luxurious hair for her to "mess with". I'm gonna see if I can find some baby pics of me - I was sooooo cute too!
Love,
Denise
This is seriously precious.
You had hair....it was just so blonde that they couldn't see it.
At least your mom used scotch tape and not duct tape, that probably would have hurt a little. ;)
Oh what a perty wittle baby!
