Gloom, Despair And Agony On Me

"Gloom, despair, and agony on me
Deep, dark depression, excessive misery
If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all
Gloom, despair, and agony on me."

Of course, I'm not only kidding!

I'm not that miserable.

Okay, well maybe I'm a lot a little miserable.

But I'm definitely not bitter.

Really, I am I'm not.

Yesterday, Shannon had to take me to see a neurosurgeon about my back problem.

Long story short, I have to have surgery.

Thursday.

This coming Thursday.

July 3rd.

I know.

What a way to spend the holiday!

Anyway, I have to stay overnight at the hospital, and God willing, if everything goes according to plan, I can return home Friday.

July 4th.

I know.

What a way to spend the holiday!

I have been told that I will be on bed rest for the first two weeks. I can only get out of bed to use the bathroom and shower.

Then the two weeks after that, I will still be on bed rest. But I will be allowed to use the bathroom, shower, and walk around the house a little bit.

No housework at all.

And I cannot even ride in a car unless it is to go to the doctor.

I know.

What a way to spend the summer!

Anyway, my sweet husband and boys will be taking care of me for a while.

Shannon has even worked out a way to move the computer into our bedroom, so that when I am feeling a little better, I can blog. Sigh.

So in a couple of weeks if you notice that I am stalking you and your blog a little more than normal, don't be alarmed. I am completely harmless. Just ask Mia; she'll tell you. I've been stalking her for a while now. ;)

I'll probably post a couple of more times before surgery, but if I don't you'll know why.

Once I am feeling a little better, I will pick up where I left off with all of my traveling nonsense.....I still have a lot of pictures to show you all, and a lot of stories to tell.

So until then, I'll just be singing......

"Gloom, despair, and agony on me
Deep, dark depression, excessive misery
If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all
Gloom, despair, and agony on me."

The no housework thing sounds like plus! Just trying to make you laugh : ) As someone who has had 7 major surgeries I am FEELING YOUR PAIN GIRL!
I am so sorry it has gotten to this stage but all the good prayers, wishes and love is gonna be coming your way, I just know it!!
I wish I could come over and vacuum or fix a meal for you all. Knowing that cooking is not my strong point you might not care for that kind of help from me though!!
Have Shannon fix up a "Blogging Station" so you can post to your hearts content during recovery.
Love ya,
Mia (who is stepping up her stalking skills for post surgery stalking)

I will be praying for you on Thursday and for your quick & complete recovery. Part of me wants you to be well for selfish reasons...I want to see more photos of your trip!! LOL!! Just kidding, I can't imagine what kind of pain you are in right now. Although the no housework thing sounds pretty cool. :)

God bless,
Gina

Ames,
I too love your humor in the midst of physical and emotional pain and fatigue. I forgot to tell you in email that you should takes lots of showers during that four weeks and go to the bathroom a lot. You know how they say smaller more frequent meals are better for us? Well, how about smaller more frequent visits to the pottie? Just tinkle a little bit at a time so you can get up and go more often. Now that'll help the monotonous (sp?) bed rest. Maybe you can also wash one leg at a time...that'll get you out of bed more. Of course, this will not be a good plan if you getting up actually causes you pain.
Love ya,
Paula

Dear, sweet Amy. You have such a great sense of humor during this difficult time. I'm so sorry that you are experiencing such pain and misery. But thank God there is a way out (surgery, and more importantly, prayers) and there are loving family and friends (bloggy, too) to help you through! :)

Have a wonderful day, sweet friend! I will be praying for a flawless surgery and speedy recovery.

Prayers and Blessings,
Rebecca

OH.MY.GOODNESS.AMY!!

I can't believe I missed this post..I just set up all of the blogs that I frequent on Google reader so that I don't have to "blog hop" to find out who all has posted - I LOVE IT, BTW. - but I must have somehow set yours up incorrectly so I didn't realize you were posting. (I was wondering why you hadn't written anything in the past couple of days).

Anyway, I've got it all fixed now and will back to stalking you on a regular basis.

I'm so sorry to hear that you must have surgery - and so soon, must be very serious - but I am praying that this will resolve your problems so that you can get back to 'normal' (whatever that is) soon.

And I will definitely keep you posted on the movie tip. Maybe when you're feeling better I'll come visit with a few of my favorites and we can have a 'girls night' (or day, whatever the case may be :)).

Please keep us posted on your recovery. I've got you in my thoughts and prayers.

Take care!
