Amy From A-Z

Hula Girl from the fabulous "Growing Older But Not Up" blog has tagged me for this A-Z meme. I had so much fun reading Hula's post, so I was very excited to do my own.

And since I know you all are just dying to know more about me, I'll get started.;)

(Just let me live in my fantasy world, Mmmkay? And please let me say, I appreciate all of you for putting up with me and all of my blogging nonsense.)

(A.) attached or single? Very attached!

I'm just saying....

(B.) best friend? Refer back to A.

(C.) cake or pie? Although I love pie, especially pecan pie, I will have to go with cake. Cake making is an incredible art form that I love to look at, as well as eat. I especially love wedding cakes. Here is a picture of our wedding cake, since I know you are all very curious as to what it looked like. (Don't deny it.)

This cake was a wedding gift for Shannon and me. One of the doctors that I worked for and his wife gave it to us, and she made the cake. She made it match my Precious Moments music box wedding cake topper. Shannon and I thought that was the most amazing wedding gift!

(D.) day of choice? Friday is probably my favorite day. It's the last day of the school week, which provides me with much relief. And it's the beginning of the weekend, which I always look forward to, because I get to spend time with my hubby.

(E.) essential item? I cannot live without my Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets.

My face is so oily that I cannot even wear face make up like base and blush. When I rub my face with one of these sheets, it turns from blue to clear very quickly. These things are amazing at sucking the oil off of my face. I can't show you a picture, because Shannon says that is just gross! So you will just have to trust me on this one. If you have oily skin, run to your nearest store and buy some of these, and keep them in your purse like I do.:)

(F. ) favorite color? Mediterranean Blue....

It doesn't get any more beautiful than that!

(G. ) gummy bears or worms? Neither. I prefer M&Ms. Especially the kind that have my picture on them.

Thanks, Kenny!;)

(H.) hometown? Memphis, Tennessee, just a hop, skip, and a jump from the home of the "King."

Thank you! Thank you very much!;)

(I. ) favorite indulgence? I love having my hair done by Melissa. She gives me highlights, lowlights, a cut, and style. I always leave her chair feeling beautiful on the inside, as well as the outside.

(Thanks, Melissa! And if the "hair" looks familiar to you, it's because you just saw it on the M&Ms.) :)

(J. ) January or July? October. I do not like the extremes of temperature during January and July. Like Goldilocks would say, "October is just right!"

(K. ) kids? I have two boys that I adore most of the time ! Matthew is sixteen, and Daniel is thirteen. (This picture was taken last year; they will rarely let me take their picture anymore, so I have to resort to using old pictures. I just mentioned this because Daniel would want you all to know that he has grown a foot since this picture was taken. He's just saying is all.)

Shudder. Sigh. Shudder. Sigh.

(L.) life isn't complete without? My family and friends, laughter, and the occasional Grande Mocha Frappuccino Light, no whip, for Amy.

Mmmmmmm!

(M.) marriage date? May 18, 1991

Sigh.

(N.) number of brothers & sisters? I have one brother; his name is John. I adore him. He was born when I was twelve years old. And even though we are far apart in age, we are very close in heart.

(Is it just me, or do I look like a floating head in this picture?)

(O.) oranges or apples? I'm not a big "fruit" eater, but if I had to pick one, I'd say oranges. I love how they taste, but I rarely eat them. Mostly because I am very messy by nature, and every time I tear open an orange to eat, I feel like I need to take a bath. Somehow while eating an orange, I always manage to get all covered in sticky.:(

Maybe I should try them frozen and on a stick.;)

(P. ) phobias? Cotton balls. (Don't judge.)

I cannot stand the thought of someone ripping a cotton ball apart. When my boys or I need cotton for our ears, Shannon or the boys have to do the "tearing" of the cotton balls. I cannot under any circumstances do this, nor can I watch it being done. It gives me chills all over just thinking about it.

Shudder.

(Q.) quotes? I'll have to go with the same answer that Hula gave on this one. I LOVE Erma Bombeck. I have read all of her books, and they have provided me with so much laughter! She had the most amazing sense of humor regarding everything from big deal situations to just the normal mundane things in life.

If I had to pick one quote of hers it would have to be this one:
"If you can't make it better, you can laugh at it."

That has become sort of like my "motto."
And since I have always struggled with my weight and exercise, this next quote of Erma's makes me laugh out loud every time I read it.

"I've exercised with women so thin that buzzards followed them to their cars." :)

(R.) reasons to smile? Memories of my babies always make me smile.

Sigh.

(S.) season of choice? I love the fall. I love when I go outside and leaves are blowing everywhere, and the temperature is just perfect.

It reminds me that Thanksgiving is just around the corner. And then that makes me think of pecan pie......And I do love pecan pie!
Sigh.

(T.) tag seven peeps! I'm going to follow Hula's lead on this one too by only tagging three of my peeps.

Tina is my peep at the "Golden Goodness" blog.

Yvette is my peep at the "Boyd's Babblings" blog.

And last, but certainly not least, is my South African peep Dianne at the Deez Dayz blog.

Tag my peeps! You ladies are it!

(U.) unknown fact about me? Okay, don't tell anyone that I told you this, but I have an abnormal fear of heights. Just standing on a kitchen chair to reach something in one of our top cabinets can cause me to become light-headed and clammy all over.

Seriously.

Shiver.

(V. ) vegetable? I love so many vegetables, that it is hard to pick just one, but if I had to pick just one or two I would have to go with yellow squash and okra. Fried of course.

What can I say, I'm from the south; we fry everything.

(W.) worst habits? I pick at my split ends obsessively a little more than I should. I am working on this, but unless Shannon ties my hands up, or Melissa gives me a buzz cut, I don't know if I will ever be able to stop picking at them.

(X.) x-ray or ultrasound? Ultrasound definitely. X-rays are always to look for a "problem," but ultrasounds can be for a happy occasion, like getting to see your unborn baby for the first time.

And as in our case, when I was pregnant with Daniel, you can find out if you are having a boy or a girl.;)

(Y.) your favorite food? I love so many foods, but every day since I have returned home from the Mediterranean, I have thought about my cannoli.

I am in love with the dessert made famous by mobsters. What are you gonna do?

(Z.) zodiac sign?

I don't know; do you think it sounds like me? ;)

Awesome post Amy! I enjoyed reading every word and I especially liked the Erma Bombeck quote about exercise. We visited Memphis a few years back for a baseball tournament in Southhaven Miss. and I think my daughter is playing soccer there in November. I will let you know and maybe we can meet up for a Starbucks or something!!

Hi! For some reason, my first comment did not go through. Let's try this again (:
I love your answers to all of the questions. So fun and what wonderful pictures, especially the one of you and your husband. And how did you get M&M's with your face on them? Too cool!

Amy, you are hilarious. I too hate cotton balls. Thought I was the only one. And October... YES. I wish we could just skip right through September. :)

Cotton balls do that to you? Wow! Metal against metal and metal files do that to me...it hurts my teeth just thinking about it.

But to answer you question about baby posts. I commented about my first born son on Mia's Barrel of Fun post dated July, 11.

I have not written about that experience on my blog, but maybe I will because it is an amazing testimony and is part of what shaped my thinking in terms of the character of God. You can check out my comment if you like, but just know I am considering writing about this. Thanks for thinking of it.

Heavens...

That must have been exhausting to compile, but it was a great delight to read. You are a treasure!

I'm sending cotton balls as soon as I'm done ripping them apart for you.

I feel so much closer to you now. I feel like coming to your house and shredding a cotton ball right in front of you. LOL! (evil laugh)

What a great post...oh and TAG I'm it!!! How Fun!! I'll get busy on this and let you know as soon as I finish posting mine..

Just FYI: The fear of cotton balls is not anything new to me, I've heard of this phobia before. I don't know if there's a name for it but if you google "fear of cotton balls" you will see just how many people are out there with this exact same problem. (Wouldn't want you to feel alone in your weirdness. ha!)

Luv ya!

This was fun to read. You are so welcome again for the M&M's that I bought and did not get to eat. And again thanks again for showing the Cannoli. I am assuming you are looking up how to make them or get them shipped here for us.

Yippee! Thanks for playing along. I loved seeing some of your responses. Don't feel bad about the cotton ball thing. My dad's best friend used to break open an aspirin bottle to avoid touching the cotton inside.

Kindred Spirits! I don't have a phobia of the cotton balls, but I can't STAND to pull them apart (or out of the medicine bottles) for me, it "feels" like other people's sound of scratching on a chalk board (but the chalk board thing doesn't bother me at all)

I'm "secretly" afraid of balloons...well not OF them, of the sudden unknown LOUD popping!
