Honest Scrap~ Part 1

I was given this great prize last week from Sondre Lyn.

Sondre Lyn always says the sweetest things to me.

Thank you for thinking of me for this prize, Sondre Lyn.

Sigh.

The rules are as follows:1) Choose a minimum of 7 blogs that you find brilliant in content or design.2) Show the 7 winners names and links on your blog, and leave a comment informing them that they were prized with "Honest Scrap." Well, there's no prize, but they can keep the nifty icon.3) List at least 10 honest things about yourself.

I am having a hard time thinking of ten things about myself that the tens of you reading this blog don't already know, but I'm sure I will come up with something.

Let me see.

Oh, yes, here we go.

1. I loved the Twilight series of books by Stephenie Meyer.

Well, I loved most of them. I was SO excited to start the fourth book in the series. And I loved it up to a certain point, but then it started to just become ridiculous to me.

(Please, no tomato throwing.)

It got so bad that I could not even finish the book. I suffered my way through three fourths of the book, and finally, just gave up and skipped to the last chapter to see how it ended. And if you knew me at all, you would know that I usually have to finish a book if I start it.

Now don't get me wrong, I love Edward and Bella and their love story, but the last book was just too much for me.

I'm just saying is all.

I hope that we can all still be friends.;)

2. I don't like watermelon. At all. I think it is nasty! I know. I know. I am from the south; we are all supposed to love eating watermelon. I just can't do it. Sorry.

*ick*

3. I love to watch this new show called Ruby on the Style Network.

It is a show all about Ruby's journey to lose weight. My son Daniel likes to watch it with me. Ruby is so funny, and she has the best accent, evah. Which, unfortunately for my family, I love to imitate.

I think it is very funny when I talk like Ruby, but my family does not. Especially Daniel. He hates when I do it. Oh well, you can't please every body all the time, amen?;)

I found this clip on You Tube so you can hear her for yourself.

Daniel gets so humidified when I talk like Ruby in front of his friends. LOL!:)

Seriously, you can just ignore me if you want to.

4. I just recently joined and have become addicted to Facebook. This is my current default picture on Facebook.

Okay, that being said, a couple of weeks ago I received a friend request from a guy that I went to high school with. And attached to his friend request was a little personal message.

This is what his message said: "Holy crap, Amy, you look so different! How's everything going? It's been a long time."

Different?

What does that even mean?

I mean I know it's been a long time and all, but I look so different?

Who says that to an insecure woman that's about to turn 40?

Holy crap, I was SO humidified by that statement. ;)

5. Even though I am all grown up, about to turn 40, and haven't lived with my parents in almost 20 years, my mom still blames me for any and all items that she cannot find.

I'll give you an example of a typical "missing item" alert phone call.

The telephone rings.

I answer it.

Me: (Is this the party to whom I am speaking? *snort-snort*) Hello!

Mom: Amy, do you have my Tupperware lettuce keeper? I can't find it.

Me: No, Mom, I don't have it.

Mom: Are you sure? Because I thought you borrowed it once.

Me: No, Mom, I never borrowed it. I have my own Tupperware lettuce keeper.

Mom: Well, I didn't loan you my can opener, did I?

LOL!:)

The only missing thing that she doesn't blame me for taking is her Tupperware hair brush that she had been using for the last 30 years. She blames that on my uncle.;)

So, please, I urge you, if you see either one of these vintage Tupperware items.....

Please call me. ;)

I love you, Mom!

I'll finish up with the last five honest things about myself in my next post.

Until then.......

Everyone keeps telling me I need to get on face book.
I'm just not sure that I need anything else...the blog is pretty time consuming. I'm thinking about it though.

I'm sure that statement made from that guy was a compliment. I know looking back at my high school pictures and shortly after I got married.....I hope I look better. You don't look 40! I think that's what he meant. You look great! :)

Can't wait to read part 2 tomorrow.

Have a great day! (I'm home again...yay!)
Love,
Valerie

You are so funny! Do I tell you that in every comment I write? Your blog always makes me smile...it's the best!

But, seriously, I didn't know there was anyone in the world who did not like watermelon! That one was a real shocker...we can still be friends though.

Well I am with you on watermelon so you are not alone. Also tell your mom I took the hairbrush.

You are so funny! You never fail to elicite some type of emotion with your writing! Seriously, Girl, you should write a book or something! :D I had no idea Tupperware made hairbrushes. That just cracks me up! I am not a fan of the T-party as you know *ahem*, but I do have one of those orange scoring things that is orangy-yellow and long like a pencil. My grandfather used to score my oranges with one when I was a kid and I have one for no other reason than to remember him when I open my drawer and see it! BTW, my grandparents also have a copy of the picture on your blog of the man praying over the bread. It has hung in their dining room for as long as I can remember.

And the picture thing, I have to agree with the others, you look beautiful, no where near 40, and it has to be a compliment!

No watermelon?...are you *sure* you're from "down here"? LOL I've eaten the stuff since I could chew solid foods (well, actually you don't have to chew it per se...you can just suck on it forever like my daughter did when she was 2 and I'd find it tucked away in her cheek hours later!)

My 13 yr old daughter thinks that Ruby show is funny and laughes at the way she talks too!

LOL, the Tupperware conversations with your mom sounds about like mine! The sad thing is I have not only my mom's stashed at my house, but, my poor grandma's too...God bless her I'm sure she needs some of it LOL

Looking forward to hearing more about ya girl. Take care :)

Hey, Kenny, you need to give me my Tupperware brush back! I have a black one and a yellow one and I use one of them every day!
I too can't believe you don't like watermelon - it's so yummy and refreshing!
Love you! Mom :)

I did not know Tupperware made hairbrushes. My mom still thinks I "borrow" money from her like I did when I was a teen.

Even though we don't live very close, she still calls, did you see a $5 on the counter when you were here?

Look Sadie, I took that brush back in 1987 so if you are just now missing it you must not brush your hair much. Love you. Boy with the food. I should have known if Tupperware had a hairbrush you would be the one to own it.

Okay, seriously??? A Tupperware hairbrush?? Why I never...
But my mom has a Tupperware salad bowl just like that! I think she bought it in the 70's - to match the kitchen colors ;)

Something must be wrong with me *sniff-sniff* I have a facebook AND a myspace and I just can't seem to get into either of them. [shrugs shoulders]

I won't even comment on the watermelon thing (because I can't...there's WAY too much stuff that I won't eat) but it does shock me that you didn't like the fourth book. WOW!!

I've never heard of Ruby. She is funny. I like her terminology. Humidified = humiliated and horrified...that's good.

I'll have to try that....well helicopter. hehe

Your man has a facial hair going on...nice. When I started dating my beloved (he has a mustache) my gramma called and left a message on my machine. She jokingly said "does that mustache tickle" and in her 70 year old voice chuckled. Makes me laugh.

I refuse to be addicted to facebook so I stay away.

Yeah, what did your friend think you looked like before...better or worse. I'm guessing it's his polite way to say you're hot!

What is a tuperware brush? for veggies, I guess?!

Well that was deffinetly fun to read! It is fun to learn intresting facts about people.

4. What?!?! You look SO different?!? I'm guessing he means better! No more BIG HAIR!! hahaha!!

Great scrap, Amy!!

I also need a Tupperware hairbrush. I just moved back in with my mom (I brought my husband and kids along for the adventure as well). Her brush only has 24 bristles left and 37 missing. She still uses it everyday. It's only been a week of her saying, "If you ever see another one for sell, pick it up for me" -- and I'm getting desperate. So, if you ever see another one for sale, post a link for me ;-)
