(Not So ) Wordless Wednesday

One of Daniel's favorite movies to watch when he was younger was The Wizard of Oz. And the Tin Man was his absolute favorite character in the movie.

So, one year for Halloween, he wanted my mother to make him a Tin Man costume. And, of course, she did.

Here is a picture of Daniel dressed up in all of that Tin Man cuteness.

Sigh.

My mom, of course, did not want to leave Matthew out of all of the fun, so she asked him if he would like her to make him a Scarecrow costume, to which he responded, "Yes!"

Only, when she gave them their costumes, Matthew refused to wear his. He would not even try it on, if I remember correctly.

That particular Halloween, my boys were invited to two different Halloween celebrations, that were being held on two different nights. So, when Daniel saw that Matthew was not going to give in and wear the costume, Daniel jumped up and said, "I'll wear it! I'll wear my Tin Man costume to the first party, and I'll wear Matt's Scarecrow costume to the second party."

And he did.

Just look at him in all of that Scarecrow yumminess!

As a matter of fact, he not only wore the Scarecrow costume to that second party, but he also won the prize for having "The Best Boy Costume" of the night.

He won a BIG bag of candy. But not just any candy. He won a bag full of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

Matthew's favorite candy to be exact.

Daniel looked at him when they got home and said in his sweetest little Scarecrow voice, "You should have worn the Scarecrow costume, Matthew, and then you could be eating all of these Reese's Peanut Butter Cups."

Sigh.

Out of the mouths of babes, amen?

Oh, Amy, my FAVORITE pictures!!!! I LOVED making those costumes! You didn't tell them WHY Matthew wouldn't wear the scarecrow - the tannish color of the thing that went around his head was just not the EXACT color it should have been! I was so upset since I had gone out in a blinding rainstorm to Hancock's to buy the stuff to make it and sat up late sewing to have it done in time!
You made my day! Love you all!
MOM :)

HAHA, they're so brutally honest aren't they?

I have a funny "history" with tinman. When me & Kevin first met (& even now) his email is tinman. I immediately thought of WOZ & thought the man was obsessed or something.

Come to find out, his profession is a tin man. AKA Sheet Metal Worker. THIS is where the name comes from! LOL

To me Wizard is the best movie ever. I think after this past week and seeing this I am going to pull out the movie and watch it. All I need are the peanut butter cups to go with it.

Amy, you crack me up. I haven't had one of those dreams about being naked in school for a long time, but I have had them. My most prominent dream was always the one about forgetting my locker combination, though. Is that A new pic of your boys (all three of them--and you, of course) on the sidebar? Could your boys look anymore like their mom and dad? You have two mini-mes! (well, except they don't look so mini!)
They costumes are adorable.
Happy trick-or-treating. Hope you get lots of resees.

Oh they are just the sweetest little costumes I ever did see, your mom is very talented.

I have to say, I am still stumped at this fascination the Americans have with peanut butter, what is it about peanut butter that makes you want to eat it with a spoon, or in candy or on all sorts of things?

BTW I suffered extreme Paul trauma today, only 35 more days!

Say hi to the family for me.

Those are wonderful costumes. I read your mom's comment. How sad. I'm sure that just crushed her spirit. Does Matthew remember that incident? What does it say about now years later?
