Victoria's Amy's Secret

Monday, I had to go back to the neurosurgeon to talk with him about a new problem that has developed in my back, as well as to discuss the situation with my nerve damage.

The nerve damage is improving, but I still have some weakness in my right foot (otherwise known as drop foot), so the doctor has asked Shannon to continue to do the 25 stretches, twice a day to my right leg. He said with these stretches that my foot should go back to normal; it just may take several more months.

Then, for the new problem, which is pain in my left lower back, he gave me a prescription for a back brace to wear.

Sigh.

He told me to wear it all day, every day, but to obviously take it off at bed time.

When Shannon asked what type of back brace, the doctor told him that it would be very similar to a corset.

I was relieved, of course, because corsets are generally....you know...sexy.

I started having images of some sexy corsets that I have seen before.......

I figured that having to wear a corset wouldn't be so bad after all.

So yesterday, I went to get fitted for my corset. Imagine my disappointment when they measured me and proceeded to hand me this......

Sigh.

Not exactly something that you see at Victoria's Secret, is it?

Well, at least it doesn't show up too badly underneath my clothes.

And, on a positive note, I liked the idea of something helping me to "keep my stomach sucked in." ;)

But seriously, it's not very sexy.

As I was driving home from picking this back brace corset up, I was trying to come up with a way to convince Shannon that this new look of mine is all the rage right now at Victoria's Secret. I tried desperately to come up with a plan to make Shannon see it as "sexy."

You know, like this.....

As I arrived home and was getting out of the car, I was starting to feel very hopeful about the whole corset situation. I figured that it would help me by holding my stomach in, not to mention protecting my back, and with any luck, I could convince Shannon that I looked great in it.

Right as I was entering the house feeling confident that I could pull this new look off without any problems, I looked down at my feet.

And that's when I noticed this.....

I could not believe that I drove all the way into town and walked around out in public wearing one black shoe and one brown shoe.

I spent all that time thinking about what I would look like in a corset, and what I should have been thinking about was making sure that both of my shoes matched.

Like I've told you all before (click here), I never quite achieve the look that I'm going for.

Sigh.

That is funny, what great perspective you have!

I love the shoe thing. I have never walked out of the house with 2 different shoes, but I have walked out of the house with my slippers on. Once on my way to church, I had to turn around and go home to change! Crazy! I have those same shoes by the way, in brown, but not black! :D

I love the shoes....my husband has gone to work like this a few times. I do the same thing with socks.

As far as the corset things goes...buy the red one....SHANNON deserves it!!!

I like both corsets, I like the black one better myself, you know black makes us look thinner. hahaha But I am sorry you are having the back pain....
Have a good weekend

That's too funny about the shoes. You may recall the day I did that not too long ago and of course I had my camera in my purse with me at work and of course I posted about it!

It's especially funny because my daughter called me yesterday from work and was laughing because she wore two different shoes to work! I said, "You're your mother's daughter!"
Sooo funny! I think it's easier to do than people think.;)

I sure hope these exercises and the beautiful, sexy corset help your back and foot.

God bless you, Amy!
Love,
Valerie

I think I'm done now....okay yes, I'm done.
Mismatched shoes out in public get me everytime!
You could dip dye that brace a vibrant pink or purple, add some tassles....
I am so glad you are experiencing some healing! Praise God...I'll keep praying!
Have a great weekend!

You are so stinkin' funny. I love this post..

The picture of your shoes is right next to the ones of your boys laughing.. for some reason it cracked me up even more.. It was as if they were laughing at you.. while that might not be very nice.. it is so stinkin' funny.. go have a look..lol.

That's funny about your shoes. Don't feel bad though since they are the same shoe just different colors. Now had you worn two slightly different shoes and never noticed they felt, different, THEN, we'd need you to see a professional.

I've slipped on brown shoes with gray pants. That's a big no-no in my book. I didn't notice until I got to work. Hey, what can I say, my closet is dark.

So glad that the brace wasn't one of those hard plastic ones. I saw a person with one of those on and it was outside of his shirt. So, only uncomfortable but obvious.

Maybe you could dye the brace a sexy black and dye the strings a sexy red. How's about that?
Love,
Paula

Oh Amy. I have SO been there. I left the house the other day with no bra on. Going to work. Sometimes our brains just have too much going on.

Sorry about the brace, but you're right, I couldnt tell you had it on at all with your clothes. Hopefully it will make your back feel better. If not, try a corset from Victoria Secret instead. :)

Hi Amy, I found you through Mabel's House. Maybe you could take some fabric paint to the brace and make it sort of corset looking. Maybe faux lace on it? Sorry you have to wear the thing but it really is hidden under your top in the photo.

Crystal said...

Oh Amy! Is the corset very uncomfortable? The two different shoes are hilarious! I have a fear of doing that. Maybe nobody noticed?

Sigh, ag shame my skattie!

I think you look VONDERFUL in your "corset" dahlink.

I hope to catch you for a bit tomorrow afternoon as Angela is going to visit a friend and we will have the afternoon to chill, which will be your morning.

Sorry to hear about your pain but hey with your sense of humour you must be able to cope.
When I do silly things like that I can call it a "senior moment", but you young ones have no excuse.

laughing out loud Amy!!! You poor thing...you have been thru so much! I am sure you had a good laugh at yourself when you seen those shoes! Maybe you could try dying you corset that maroon color like the one in the picture!! ohhhlaalaa!!

Tina said...

Oh the dangers of having the same shoes in multiple colors, lol! You CRACK me up!!

The whole corset thing is a riot! Let's paint your brace to look like lace...or paint cleavage on it...or not.

Hope the brace makes a difference!

Oh Amy...thanks for the laugh! My girlfriend did that too once. Didn't discover it until she was in the airport on her way to Texas and decided to get her boots shined. That's when the shoe shiner asked if she had more of those boots at home. Both black...just totally different look. The funny part...different sized heels! :)
Love the corset!! :)
Will pray for your back I know from Gene that this is so hard.
Love ya,
Lelia
