A Romantic Date In Crazyville

For Christmas, Shannon took Scarlet and me on a romantic date in Crazyville.

It was lovely.

We started out by having lunch at the Olive Garden.

Scarlet was snuggled up by the fireplace while Shannon and I gorged on ate our delicious lunch.

We started our lunch with some of Olive Garden's famous salad.

It was So wonderful.

We ate all of it.

Don't judge.

For the main course I chose Linguine with Marinara Sauce.....

And Shannon chose a dish (which I, of course, cannot remember the name of) that was really delish. It was chicken and steak kabobs, with fried potatoes, and vegetables covered in a basil type paste.

Oh. My. Word.
It was SOOOOOOOOO delish, that I was forced to eat most of Shannon's order.

Don't judge.

I couldn't help myself.

Of course, no date with me is complete until I have spilled something, or until I have gotten food on my clothes.

This date was no exception.

There was marinara sauce all over my top.

*Sigh*

And as if wearing my marinara sauce wasn't embarrassing enough, the waitress walked up right as I was taking the picture of the sauce on my shirt.

*Sigh*

She looked at me as if I were nuts, and then she asked me, "Did you just take a picture of your shirt?"

To which I replied, "Well, of course. Doesn't everybody?"

(She was obviously not a blogger. I'm just saying.)

Luckily for me, Shannon still loves me even though I tend to be quite clumsy and messy.

*Sigh*

After our messy romantic lunch, we headed to the movie theater. I let Shannon pick the movie this time, since the last movie that we went to see, I chose.
Click here if you want to read more about that.;)

Shannon chose the new Brad Pitt movie called The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

It was a lovely movie. We heard many people after the movie saying that they thought it was "weird," but we really loved it. It was full of so much wisdom.

Here is the movie trailer.

The character of Benjamin's mother really touched me so much personally. She was so wise. I loved her outlook and attitude towards life. She was just very accepting of all the events in her life. Good or bad. She always told Benjamin, "You never know what's coming for you."

There was one scene in particular that really moved me. Benjamin was very upset about his "condition," and he was crying as he asked her, "What's wrong with me, Momma?" To which she simply replied, "God hasn't told us that yet." She didn't worry about what was wrong with Benjamin, she just trusted that with God, he would be all right.

I told Shannon that I want that to be my attitude. When difficulties come my way, I fuss, fret, complain, cry, get over myself, then I finally accept God's Will. I want to skip all of those steps and just simply trust God. I am a work in progress. Slow, slow progress...but progress all the same, amen?;)

Anyway, we loved the movie. I realize not every one will love it, but I highly recommend that you see the movie and decide for yourself.

Now, as you know, no trip to the movies would be complete without me visiting the ladies room and finding something interesting.

Here is what I found during my time in the loo.......

Me too, sister! Me too! LOL!:)

I love Olive Garden and especially always look forward to their awesome salad! Just seeing that picture made me want to eat there soon. The nearest one to us is probably 45 miles away. :(

I'm glad you took a picture of your spot on your blouse. I get all kinds of looks when I take pictures of my food etc. but I don't care anymore. It's worth it to share with y'all. :)

My mom can't eat a meal without dripping something on her blouse either. We tease her about that.

I'm glad you and Shannon had such a fun date night and so glad the movie blessed you and gave you encouragement. I believe changing the way we think definitely changes the way we feel.

Love ya,
Valerie

Having one date night a month is on my goal list for 2009, not sure if it will happen when we aren't getting any sleep...but Grandma gave Richard movie tickets and free babysitting to go along with it.....hopefully we won't fall asleep in the nice, quiet (no crying), dark movie theater.....

What a beautiful picture of you and Shannon! And, I love how you said, "She was obviously not a blogger." We take pictures of the most absurd things, don't we? Glad you had a wonderful day out!

Oh you blogger you! What a wonderful date you three had ; )
I love that line "God hasn't told us that yet" Our timing just isn't His timing is it?
I'm thinking maybe Bookworm wrote that in the bathroom! HA!

Sounds like a wonderful date night! We received an Olive Garden gift card for Christmas...I'm looking forward to using it. Too funny that the waitress saw you take that picture of your shirt:)

I too want to get to the place where I skip all the icky attitudes and just trust God!

Oh how fun! I love Olive Garden, but we don't live anywhere near one. For Christmas last year, we took our pasta-loving daughter to lunch at the nearest one over an HOUR away!

I think it is funny you always spill something on you. I used to do the same. (Not so much anymore!) No night out was complete until I had also knocked over someone's glass of water and a small child. Although, one night, the waiter spilled a glass of tea on me! That was a nice switch. He kept apologizing and I kept laughing. I mean, glass houses and all...

BWWWHAHAHAHAHA! That is totally the type of thing I would do, the picture taking and the spilling. Oh and the eating part too, that linguine made me sigh out loud, OMG, it looks divine!

Eh hem, I had to google Edward Cullen first (don't judge) before I could comment, and yes I must agree that is one eye candy treat!

Ag shame my skattie, I tired several times to call you this morning, alas, no answer. I'll try again in a bit.

Glad to be back and I have missed you too dahlink, Mwah!

Thanks for making me laugh this morning Amy:) You really do crack me up. I would have loved to have been there to see the waitress when she asked you about the picture of your shirt. How funny is that. We went and saw a moving over the holidays. Seven Lbs. It was sad and one that not all people will enjoy, but I thought it was pretty good. It kept my interest and that takes a lot sometimes. Ray and I plan on going to see the movie you talk about here next. Can't wait!

I can't believe that was actually written on the t-paper in your stall. That is too funny.

But lunch looks so delish and the movie sounds sweet. I don't get to see grown up movies much. We took a risk and took the boys to see Marley and me, which I had mixed feelings about. But I had a good cry. Sometimes I just need a really good cry. :)

I've missed you over the holidays! I"m still trying to catch up. Will 2009 be any different?!!!

Girl, you are too funny. I literally laughed outloud (not to worry no one but me here to startle). When they waitress asked if you just took a pic of your shirt. Before I read that, I was going to say, I bet Shannon enjoyed taking a picture of your shirt. hehe (the location).

You are one picture taking gal. :-)
I love, love, love Olive Garden. I almost always get the cheese ravioli. They are huge and you get nine. I get the sauce that goes with the portabello mushroom ravioli. They probably hate me for substitutes but that sauce is like a pinky color...a mix of alfredo and marinera. I do not like either sauce very much but this pink mixture is divine. What about breadsticks? No pic of the poor little softies? I bet you guys ate them up though.

I've not seen the movie but I've heard that if we look behind the oddness of growing younger there is a great moral about living life. I plan to go to the movies this weekend...plan to. Not sure what I'll see.
Love,
Paula

You've got me wishing I lived near an Olive Garden! Sounds like a great night of celebration. Hey, any night without the kids hanging on qualifies as fun for me.

Let's see, you're turning 40 this year. Can't wait for that post and for the cake that will inevitably make its way onto the front of your shirt.

Here's hoping your 2009 is filled with all the joy and goodness your heart can hold. Enjoy each day.
