Daniel's Philosophy About Grades

Daniel has his own philosophy about his grades in school. His own ideas about what is important, and what is not. Sometimes I get very frustrated with him about his grades. I don't expect him to make straight A's all the time, but I do expect him to do his best.

He is a kid that always sees the glass half full. He looks for the positive in most situations.

So, one day I was yelling talking to him about a bad grade he had just made on a test. I said very loudly calmly, "Daniel, a D is not a good grade; you need to put forth more effort in your school work."

He looks at me and says, "Mom, a D is better than an F. A C is better than a D. A B is better than a C. Besides, even if I do make an F sometimes, what is going to happen? When I'm older and go on a job interview are they going to say, 'Remember that test you failed in seventh grade?'"

It's hard to argue with logic like that. I don't know where he gets it from.

Well, I better get off this computer and try get my workout done for the day. I only have time for about 20 minutes of exercise this morning. But, the way I look at it, 20 minutes is better than no minutes at all, right?
