Southern Cooking

Early in our marriage, I used to cook big "Southern" meals each night for dinner.

One night I decided to make a meatloaf and turnip greens the way my daddy taught me. He told me to use all healthful ingredients such as bacon grease and sugar to season the greens.

While I was cooking, I got a little distracted with the kids, so I maybe put a whole lot a dash too much of sugar in the turnip greens. I didn't think it would be enough to notice though......

As Shannon and I were eating I asked him how he liked the dinner, and he said the meatloaf was delicious. I then asked him what he thought about the turnip greens.........and he said, "They're good too. Sweet. I hope I don't get a cavity though." :)

LOL! Too funny! Thanks for stopping by my blog corner. I have enjoyed reading your blog. I will put you in my favs so that I can come back. I look much older than I am too. I use to get mistakened for being 10 years younger than my age and this past year was very hard for me. Well, my dh told me that I am finally starting to look my age. Agh! Why do they say things like that? They should know that is forbidden talk to a wife. LOL Have a blessed day!

Shannon is too funny! And so sweet, himself, too!

Now, the turnip greens are made with splenda and olestra, right? Yum! Gotta splurg somewhere, girl, so eat the greens the real southern way!

Tee hee. I once made chili that made my husband sweat so much he stripped to his underwear. That was early in our marriage. Thanks so much for the kind words at my blog and for thinking of me this weekend. I really appreciate it.
