Frogs In The Toilet 101

Yesterday, there were a couple of people who asked about how the frog ended up in the toilet......I had that same question for Shannon (who is a plumber) myself, especially after finding a third frog in my bathroom toilet.

After freaking out (for the third time), I called him up at work and demanded asked him ever so politely to please find out where on earth these nasty frogs could be coming from!

I told him that we could not be the only people on the earth that this had ever happened to, and he was a plumber who knew people that knew people! Call some of those people and figure out how to fix this problem........

So he did.

Long story made short....We live in the woods, and our house is surrounded by trees. Apparently the frogs that were in our toilet (shudder) were some sort of tree frog. They would fall from the trees onto the roof of our house. And when the roof would begin to heat up during the day, they tried to find a cooler spot. Unfortunately (for me), that cooler spot was on top of one of our plumbing vents. When they climbed on top of this vent, they would immediately fall in. The first place that the vent led to was our master bathroom toilet (shudder again).

So to keep any more of these horrific creatures from staring at me while I peed used the bathroom in the future, Shannon had to put wire mesh over all of the plumbing vents on our roof. That way, when they landed on the roof and climbed on the vents, they would not be able to fall in ever again!

Thank you, Shannon!

That's funny! A guy I worked with told me that a snake came up through his toilet! And he didn't live in the woods!! I would have DIED right there on the spot!
Love you baby! MOM :)

Amy,
I love your blog. I had actually printed off the story of Noah's wife & the sinful woman post & read them from home. So awesome!!
Your blog is not only funny, but encouraging. I love visiting you & you'd be one I'd love to sit at Starbucks with for a few hours.
Thanks for being such a blessing,
Lelia

Oh my gosh, Amy...I can't even imagine! I do not like ANYTHING in my house that's supposed to belong outside! Hopefully they took care of the way they're getting in.
By the way, my husband is a plumber too. He doesn't actually work for a plumbing co. anymore, but he used to plumb new homes.
It's pretty handy having a plumber around (when you can get them to do your work...:))
Talk to you later. Thanks for the comment on my blog.
Love ya,
Valerie

Italy is great, although Naples is considered the arm pit of Italy. It's ok, but would rather be in a diffrent part. You'll love traveling here though, always something new and excited to see. Thanks for the comment. =o)

Amy,
I laughed out loud at this and the last post! What in the world?! Sounds like something that would happen in this house! Isn't life the craziest?
Blessings,
Laura

Oh my gosh, these last two posts are just CRAZY! But then I have come to expect that from you (only in the best way of course!). My worst nightmare would be snakes. I have never found one in the toilet but I won't sit down until I've checked. Now I will really be checking!!

OMG! That is SOOOO FUNNY!!! It's like reading a book backwards when you come back after a few days and read from the top down. Must run over and check out yesterday's post.

That is too funny! It would freak me out a bit too!

When I lived in Indiana near the woods I was living with a family. They were putting in a bathroom downstairs in the basement for me but it was still in the works so I used the guest bathroom upstairs.

One night, I had to get up in the middle of the night. I didn't want to wake anyone, so I didn't turn the light on until I got there. I discovered a ringed-tailed bandit behind the toilet. I closed the door and knocked on Jerry and Dana's door. They didn't believe me at first and said it was the cat. I persisted. I was right!.

Have a good day!

This is both hysterical and frightening. I think I'll take a look before using the toilet just to be sure there are no surprises.

Thanks for visiting my blog. God is so patient and faithful - AMEN! Blessings!

Yowza!

Glad you married a plumber.
Glad he found out how to prevent your guests from returning.

Probably not so glad that you keep tinkling on someone's 'frog prince' HA!

Thank you for coming by today and leaving all the wonderful comments!! I LOVE comments!!

Amy,

I found your blog when I googled "from in toilet." We've got a ton of tree frogs around, and my architect/contractor husband is asleep. I don't want to wake him up to deal with a frog. You can count on one thing: I'll be using a different toity until he's gone.

You have a wonderufl blog. Take good care.

Oh my gosh... I know exactly how you feel... We are having the same problem at my mom's and dads... So far we have found 2 frogs in the toilet... Needless to say that the lid to the toilet stays down all the time and the light always goes on when I go to the bathroom... My husband laughs his bottom off at me.... Thanks for the help.. now we know what to do to try and keep them out...
